I Felix, given myself ten years to complete or at least have 80% of this agricultural demonstration site to be fully operational. We have been now working strenuously for the past 8 years to accomplish this goal. Red Earth Gardens has advanced a very long way, in establishing itself to become a name within the food sovereignty movement on indigenous territories. We hope in the near future to expand into different communities across the Dine' Nation, including surrounding indigenous Neighbors. To become a valid resource for our communities, working toward a more sustainable, regenerative, organic, way of existing side by side with our mother earth. Also reestablishing a true Indigenous sovereignty and food security through the reiteration. and reeducation with a Dine' perspective. To regain a positive and healthy relationship with the food we consume. So please come join us in our journey to accomplish this ultimate goal as we take on the ancestral, and traditional, food ways of our ancestors, while incorporating conscious modern agricultural techniques for Future Generations.
Here we have 300-gallon water totes lined up on the higher slop of the one-acre cornfield. Also, three-foot-wide basins around each individual corn stalk to capture every last drop of rainfall.
This is our once Mama Cat (her name), she also is no longer with us. We were taking photos for a seed saving poster and she decided to pose in the shot for us. Turn out to be a great photo, as she was a great protector of the garden. Seed saving bank also in the works.
